CMYF MENTOR PROGRAM

Dear Fellow Golden Bear:

The CMYF wants to invite you to be a part of an opportunity to get reacquainted with CAL Athletics. As was stated on the previous page CAL Athletics is faced with a challenge that can use our support.

The Chuck Muncie Youth Foundation has given an opportunity to create an extension of the Mentor program that we provide to the Athletic Department. This program involves the CAL Alumni to help in mentoring athletes. The CMYF has created a club that will involve interactions with the student athletes in a casual setting That will allow us to get to know the student athlete and the person that now is a part of something that we all are a part of, and that is CAL Athletics.

The CMYF CAL Mentor Club is recruiting Cal Alumni to join this club. Your membership will include an opportunity for CAL Alumni to interact with student athletes in special settings where we can share past and current experiences in our lives that center around our experiences at CAL. As members we can provide insights and advice to obstacles and challenges that the current student athletes are facing in their daily lives. The Mentor Club will challenge alumni to offer guidance from an experienced angle of what we had to deal with and face during our time of growth on campus and what to expect when you leave.

The way this works is the CMYF Mentor Club will host three events a year that will allow alumni to get acquainted with the current athletes at CAL. The three events will be:

  • A barbecue at the end of spring ball in which the team and Mentor Club members will have a chance to get to know each other and socialize in a casual atmosphere of fellowship
  • The second event will be a warm up golf tournament @ Tilden Golf Course and tailgate party at the season opener for the CAL football season.
  • 5th Annual CAL / Stanford Big Game golfs tournament. The tournament will be held at Oakhurst Golf and Country Club.
These three events will allow The Mentor Club members a chance to get to get reacquainted with former teammates and more importantly have a chance to support and get to know on a personal basis the student athletes that are currently CAL Bears.

Donation for membership is $500.00 a year
